The minimum wage increase for Student Assistants I (4922) and II (4921)
have been updated on PPS as of Thursday night, 1/18/07. Student
Assistant 1's who are making less than $7.50 an hour have been increased
to $7.50. Student Assistant II's making less than $8.00 an hour have
also been changed to the new minimum for this title - $8.00.
PPS failed to create a new distribution line with a begin date of 1/1/07
for these increases therefore the distribution begin date for the new
rate is incorrect on PPS. This error will not affect the employee's pay
for January or future earnings. However, the history database is
incorrect. Please feel free to update PPS with the new effective date
of 1/1/07 if desired. We do not have a solution to correct this error
centrally.
Please start using the new rates for PPS distributions that begin 1/1/07
and later. You will find the new rates on the Title & Pay Plan:

Supervisor) at x2-1943 or send an e-mail to roberta.nardico at ucr.edu .
Thanks

A. Minimum Wage:
The minimum wage will increase from $6.75 to $7.50 per hour effective
January 1, 2007. This increase will affect the salary ranges for
Student Assistants. Employees below the minimum wage will be range
adjusted automatically in January 2007. The minimum wage will increase
again in January 2008 from $7.50 to $8.00 per hour.
B. Merit guideline for Student Assistants:
A merit increase of up to $.50 per hour may be given once during a
fiscal year to student employees after the completion of at least two
quarters in the department in which performance has been satisfactory or
better. The department determines the amount of merit.
The following are guidelines for merit increase amounts:
Satisfactory Performance - up to $.20/hour;
More Than Satisfactory - up to $.35/hour; and
Superior - up to $.50/hour.
Thank you.
