RE: Special Wage Increases for Lower-paid Employees
(Non-represented Staff and Academic Employees)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------

The special wage increase for lower-paid employees (non-represented
staff and academic employees) announced in late February, will not be
processed in time to be included in the payroll checks for May 1st. We
anticipate that the special wage increase will be reflected on the July
2007 payroll checks, along with two months of retroactive pay to
accurately reflect the April 1, 2007 effective date.

As previously communicated, special wage increases will be given
automatically to non-represented Staff and Academic employees, effective
April 1, as follows*:

-- Employees earning less than $30,000 per year will receive a 2% salary
increase;
-- Employees earning at least $30,000 but less than $35,000 per year
will receive a 1% salary increase;
-- Employees earning at least $35,000 but less than $40,000 per year
will receive a 0.5% salary increase.

*Salary increases will be determined on the basis of an employee's
full-time equivalent annualized base salary, which is a measure of base
salary assuming a 100% appointment.

Non-represented academic employees who are uncertain of their full-time
equivalent annualized base salary should contact their department or
college office.

Non-represented staff employees should contact Cynthia Seneriz
(cynthia.seneriz at ucr.edu; 2-2464) or Marilyn Voce (marilyn.voce at ucr.edu;
2-4659) in Human Resources.

Please communicate this information to any affected employees in your
department/unit, including those who do not have e-mail access.
