Re: Vacation Policy for Staff Members

At the PPS Users Group meeting today, a question came up regarding
vacation policy.

Question: When should a part-time employee be eligible to earn vacation
if the employee's appointment is extended whereby they become eligible
for vacation accrual? For example, an employee is appointed at 100
percent for three months and the appointment is extended at the end of
the third month for another three months.

Answer: See Policy 41 (Vacation) for Non-Represented staff section
III.D. below:

An employee who is not eligible to earn vacation because of a part-time
or short-term appointment becomes eligible to earn vacation on the first
day following six (6) consecutive monthly or quadriweekly cycles on pay
status at 50 percent time or more. Vacation accrual begins after the
completion of the six (6)-month qualifying period.

Otherwise, vacation accrual for career and limited appointment employees
who are appointed at 50 percent or more of full time for six (6) or more
months, begins from the date of appointment.

Please consult the bargaining unit contracts for the policy for
bargaining units. Here's the link:

Thanks
