Greetings, everyone,

This is a reminder about proper exam storage and retention requirements for our department. Please review the following carefully to ensure compliance with university policy:

🗃️ Exams older than one year (from Fall 2024 or earlier) should be turned in to me or Lori for secure departmental storage. We maintain these for recordkeeping and audit purposes.

🔐 Exams from within the past year (Winter 2025 to present) must be kept under lock and key at all times. This means that exams cannot be stored in open shelves, shared spaces, or unlocked filing cabinets.

If you do not currently have a lockable storage space, or if your exams are stored in a container you cannot personally lock or access securely, please contact me as soon as possible. We’ll help you identify or obtain a secure storage solution.

Maintaining exam security is essential for protecting student privacy, maintaining academic integrity, and meeting departmental compliance requirements. Thank you all for taking a few minutes to check your storage spaces and confirm they meet these standards.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you need help arranging secure storage.

Best Regards,
Donald Zarate
