Today is a tough day for American democracy, but all the more reason for those of us who care about democratic institutions and practices to get back to work. As political scientists, we have a special obligation to engage the election results and the likely
consequences squarely but purposefully, and always informing our efforts with good political science in all of its aspects. </div>

Kim Dionne, as the chair of our faculty DEI committee, has offered to take the lead on organizing our departmental outreach efforts and we all can collaborate with her on that. Democracy in a fundamental sense is about inclusion so I'm grateful for Kim's efforts.
Feel free to reach out to Kim or to me if you have thoughts about next steps we can take as a department as we help move our democracy forward. We will stay in touch with all of you as our department's plans unfold.</div>
