Yale’s Departments of African American Studies, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology invite applicants for multiple positions at the assistant professor level beginning July 2025. These positions are part of a cluster hire in African American Studies
and the social sciences. The goal is to deepen empirical scholarship of Black experiences—growing the community at Yale necessary for such scholarship in the process. Applicants’ research should fit within one or both of two subfields: 1) Racial Attitudes
and Political Participation (e.g., estimating the role of prejudice in politics, topics in sexuality and gender identity, race and attitudes towards climate justice, etc.) and 2) Race, Systems, and Institutions (e.g., the intersections of race and class, race
and artificial intelligence, race relations in specific domains such as education, child welfare, public administration, etc). All applicants will be jointly appointed with African American Studies and either Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology. Candidates
will share their teaching and service expectations between their two departments. Candidates who wish to be considered for more than one combination (e.g., African American Studies and Psychology and/or African American Studies and Sociology) should indicate
