It is with great enthusiasm that we extend this call for applicants to participate in the Women of Color in Political Science Conference. This groundbreaking initiative was first held in 2013 by Drs. Jessica Lavariega Monforti and Melissa Michelson and is committed
to addressing the underrepresentation and marginalization of women, particularly women of color, in the realm of political science through skill building and networking. While you may or may not identify as a woman of color, please
consider sharing this invitation with graduate students, early career, and non-tenure track faculty who do identify as women of color in your professional circles.

Despite commendable efforts, women of color continue to confront formidable barriers within academia, underscoring the urgent need for concerted action. This conference seeks to offer targeted support and resources to empower women of color in political science.

Scheduled for September 4th, 2024, at Drexel University, WCPS offers free workshop sessions that will bolster research capacity and support systems for graduate students and faculty, with a special emphasis on individuals affiliated with
Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Through dynamic sessions, networking opportunities, and hands-on exercises, participants will gain invaluable skills and knowledge about navigating academia and moving scholarly endeavors to publication and beyond. For
accepted applicants, we will also offer a small travel stipend and meals for the day-long pre-conference.
