Hello all,
On Friday, March 13, Melissa Michelson (Menlo College) and Sarah Hayes
(Georgetown University) will present their book *Party at the Ballot Box:
Mobilizing Black Women Voters* (NYU Press).
The book examines how celebratory voter mobilization campaigns led by
Black-led organizations have helped increase Black voter turnout in recent
elections. Drawing on extensive fieldwork and original data, the authors
show how community-based mobilization efforts, particularly those centered
on Black women organizers, can play a powerful role in expanding political
participation and shaping electoral outcomes in the United States.

Time: Friday, March 13, 2026, 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM
Location: INTS 1113
Please see the flyer attached for additional details. This should be a
fascinating talk, so please consider attending.
