Dear Dr. Esterling,
I’m the incoming Chair of the Division of Politics, Administration, and
Justice at Cal State Fullerton. I’m writing to ask if you might recommend
a lecturer for our master’s-level course, POSC 519 Seminar in State and
Local Government, for the upcoming fall semester.
We would welcome recommendations for a recent graduate of your PhD program
or a current graduate student who is ABD. The course will be offered
in-person on Monday nights, 7:00 – 9:45 pm and will enroll about 25
students.
Here’s the course description from the Catalog: “Structure, processes,
functions and interrelationships of state and local governments in American
society. State, county, municipal and special district government in
California as compared with other states.”
The course emphasizes comparisons across states (government institutions,
political culture, and policy outcomes), as well as the structure of local
government in the U.S. Our primary text is *Politics in the American
States* (Kousser, Michener, and Tolbert), supplemented with journal
articles and other readings. We’re happy to share a recent syllabus and
support the instructor in course preparation.
If you have any students who you think may be interested, I would very much
appreciate it if you could connect us or have them email me their interest
and a recent CV (shill at fullerton.edu). Thank you very much for your time
and any recommendations you’re able to share.
Sincerely,
Sarah
