Dear faculty and graduate students,

Please see a CfP below for a conference at Caltech next month. This is part
of a rotating conference around SoCal that brings together scholars of
political institutions and political economy (across subfields, not just
American politics). Even if you don't submit a paper, you are welcome to
attend as long as you RSVP.

Graduate students especially, it is a great venue to network and meet
faculty of all ranks and other graduate students in the SoCal area in a
more relaxed environment than a national conference.

--------------

Dear SoCal PIPErs,

A reminder that Caltech will host the summer version of the SoCal Political
Economy and Institutions Workshop on Thursday, July 23. As in previous
years there will be five excellent papers, breakfast (at 9.30am),
lunch, and a post-workshop reception (from 4.45-6pm).

Right now, here is what we need from you:

1. Would you attend? *If yes, please RSVP by filling out the signup form
here*
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesTr4KiMp6lDekXMAaW5YTtLfSOWUJDfMPFgBeQjRG2Md-eQ/viewform>

2. Do you want to present a paper? If so, please fill out the Paper title
and Abstract sections of the form.

3. Would you be willing to serve as a discussant? If so, again please
indicate on the form.

As in the past, presentation priority will go to younger members / those
who’ve had fewer previous presentation opportunities.

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone in the Southern California
area that might be interested and have them email us or Nico Napolio (
nicholas.napolio at ucr.edu) to be added to the distribution list.
We're looking forward to seeing you in Pasadena!

Best,
Alex Hirsch (avhirsch at hss.caltech.edu)
Mike Gibilisco (Michael.Gibilisco at caltech.edu)
