Hello all,

The Department of Political Science will be hosting *Professor Valentina
Gonzalez-Rostani* from the University of Southern California (USC) as part
of our speaker series on *Monday, March 9th*. Professor Gonzalez-Rostani is
an Assistant Professor in Political Science and International Relations at
USC. Her research examines how technological change, including automation
and artificial intelligence, reshapes political attitudes, populist
movements, and economic outcomes across both advanced economies and the
Global South.

Professor Gonzalez-Rostani will present her project, “The Political Economy
of Automation and Fragmented Production: Evidence from Mexico.” The talk
will take place from *12:10 PM–1:30 PM* in *INTS 1113*. Please see the
attached flyer for additional details.

The department will also host a lunch with the speaker at the Stable for
3–4 graduate students at 1:30PM following the talk. Meeting with visiting
scholars is a valuable opportunity for graduate students, especially those
who are on or preparing for the job market. These conversations can help
you build professional networks, learn about different departments and
hiring expectations, and receive informal advice about navigating the
profession. *If you would like to attend, please reply to this email by
Friday, February 27th.*

We hope to see you there!
