[Poscgrad] Recruitment Job Talk: Professor Nathan Chan (April 15)

Hello all,

The Department of Political Science will be hosting *Professor Nathan Chan*
from Loyola Marymount University as part of our recruitment Jobs Talk
on *Wednesday,
April 15th*.

Professor Nathan Chan is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at
Loyola Marymount University. He specializes in American Politics and
Research Methods. He has published or has forthcoming journal articles in
Perspectives on Politics, Political Behavior, and Political Research
Quarterly among others and has featured his research in the Washington Post
and the Brookings Institute. He teaches courses in race, ethnicity, and
politics; political behavior; and empirical approaches in political
science. He completed his undergraduate at UCLA and received his Ph.D. in
political science at UC Irvine. Nathan is from Eagle Rock, a neighborhood
in Northeast LA. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and
concerts & live music.

Professor Chan will present “Asian American Political Participation in
Times of Racial Exclusion.” The talk will take place from 1*1:30 AM–1:00 PM
in INTS 1113*. It will also be available on Zoom

The department will also host a lunch with the speaker at the Stable for
3–4 graduate students at 1:15 PM following the talk. Meeting with visiting
scholars is a valuable opportunity for graduate students, especially those
who are on or preparing for the job market. These conversations can help
you build professional networks, learn about different departments and
hiring expectations, and receive informal advice about navigating the
profession.
