Hi everyone,
One quick update to this — until this issue is resolved, UCPD have recommended that we keep the outer door to the POSC admin suite locked. The reason is that there is a window on that outer door so staff can see who is requesting access to the suite. There is also the possibility that staff might need to switch to remote work and if they do there will be a notice on the door to let you know.
Thanks very much to all of you for engaging this. We will continue to give updates as we learn more information.
Best,
Kevin

Subject: [Poscfaculty] ongoing security concern in Watkins
Dear colleagues,
Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, an individual or individuals have been tearing the poster of Paul's book cover from the wall next to his office door, and it seems that in the most recent iteration they have thrown the debris inside of the POSC admin suite. We do not know the identity of the person or persons nor do we know their motivation.
Because this is ongoing and because of the possibility of an escalation in the behavior, for the time being the office staff might choose to work with their office doors closed. If they do, they will post a note on their door about their availability.
Hopefully this behavior will stop and we can return to normal soon. In the meantime, please be on the lookout for unusual behavior in the hallway and if you see engaging in concerning behavior you should report the incident to campus police. I do not have any more details other than what I write here but I will let everyone know if I learn anything new.
Thanks so much for your attention to this.
Best,
Kevin
