Dear Graduate Students,

The Department invites requests for support to attend the Institute for
Qualitative and Multi-Method Research *(IQMR*) summer program at Syracuse
University and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social
Research *(ICPSR) *Summer Program in Quantitative Research at the
University of Michigan.

We offer two grants, one for IQMR (June 15-27) and one for ICPSR (one
session only, either June 9-July 3 or July 7-August 1). This year one or
two students will be selected to be sponsored for IQMR, and one or two students
will be selected to be sponsored for ICPSR.

Support for IQMR covers tuition, round-trip airfare, 15 nights of lodging,
and breakfast on the 10 days of instruction. Participants will be housed in
modern, air-conditioned two- and four-bedroom suites with each participant
having an individual bedroom with its own bathroom; suites include a shared
living/kitchen space. Support for ICPSR covers tuition, round-trip airfare,
and a $500 lodging supplement. Receipts will be required for reimbursement
of expenses paid in advance, and no additional expenses are covered for
either program.

Applicants must submit a *curriculum vitae *and a
*one-page application letter* explaining why they want support and how this
additional methods training supplements previous coursework, supports their
research agenda, and facilitates completion of the PhD.

Applications are due by email to Lori Jaramillo at lorena.jaramillo at ucr.edu by
9:00 AM on *Friday, February 7*.
