Hi everyone,

This is a great opportunity for advanced grad students working in political
institutions or political economy, broadly construed, to present at a local
conference. These events typically draw about 50-60 academics from Southern
California representing American politics, comparative politics, and
international relations. I made many of my early connections with senior
faculty at this conference series and owe much of my professionalization to
it - it’s a great opportunity!

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are unsure if a project
you’re working on would be appropriate.

Best,

Nicholas G. Napolio (he/him)

Department of Political Science

Hi All,

We would like to invite you to present your research and/or attend the
Spring 2025 *SoCal PIPE Conference* at *UC Irvine* on *Friday, April 18th*.
There will be a welcome breakfast/coffee, lunch and a happy hour/dinner.

If you would like to present or attend, please email me directly at
gboushey at uci.edu. We are especially interested in work related to the
separation of powers and American federal and state political
institutions—however we will consider all proposals.

You are welcome to propose a new paper to workshop at this PIPE—even if you
have already presented previously. Please encourage any advanced graduate
students who have not yet presented at a PIPE conference to reach out as
well.

Please let me know if you are able to attend. We understand April 18th is
Good Friday and overlaps with the WPSA.

Depending on the number of submissions, we will host two morning sessions
and two to three afternoon sessions. The conference will begin at 9/9:30am
and conclude at 4:45pm with the dinner reception to follow. We will provide
parking passes at the Social Science parking structure for those who drive
to UCI. Please contact CSD Administrator Marilu Daum at daumm at uci.edu with
requests for parking and any questions about travel and logistics.

We look forward to welcoming you at UCI and will be soon with a schedule
and details.

Best

Graeme Boushey

Director, Jack W. Peltason Center for the Study of Democracy

Associate Professor, Political Science, UC Irvine
