Dear Graduate students,

There is an update in GSA website- https://gsa.ucr.edu/ctg .

Additionally, I have received many requests from those who participated in the recent WPSA Conference. If you have not already used all your department funding, you are able to use your remaining balance up to $800 if you attended. Please send all requests to Chasstravel at ucr.edu<mailto:Chasstravel at ucr.edu> and include your receipts for reimbursement.

Best wishes,

Christina Gnuschke

Subject: Change to POSC Grad Student Travel Funds Process

Dear Graduate Students,
I'm writing to share changes in our POSC graduate student travel funds procedure. These funds are intended to help support your professional development by offsetting the cost of attending and presenting at academic conferences.
Requesting Travel Fund Approval
To request use of travel funds, please email Lori Jaramillo @ lorena.jaramillo at ucr.edu<mailto:lorena.jaramillo at ucr.edu> in advance with details about the conference, including:

  * Name, dates, and location of the conference
  * Whether you are presenting (please attach your acceptance or panel info if available)
  * Estimated costs for registration, travel, lodging, and meals
Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email outlining your allocation amount (typically up to $800 per student for the academic year).
Making Travel Arrangements
Once you have Lori's approval:

  * Conference registration and membership fees: Contact Lety Vazquez-Angeleri @ lety.vazquezangeleri at ucr.edu<mailto:lety.vazquezangeleri at ucr.edu> for assistance in purchasing your registration and any required memberships (such as WPSA).
  * Airfare: Reach out to CHASS Travel at chasstravel at ucr.edu<mailto:chasstravel at ucr.edu> as soon as your plans are confirmed. They may be able to book your flight directly so that you do not have to pay out of pocket.
  * Concur Setup: Regardless of how you travel, CHASS Travel will assist you with setting up a trip in Concur, which is required for any university-sponsored travel. Be sure to email them early in the planning process. You will also work with them after your trip and provide all receipts for your travel expense report.
Additional Funding
If you haven't already, I strongly encourage you to apply for supplemental conference travel funding through the GSA (Graduate Student Association):
https://gsa.ucr.edu/ctg
Please let me know if you have any questions, and don't hesitate to reach out early in your planning process to ensure you're eligible and set up for a smooth trip.
Best regards,

Christina Gnuschke
