Dear colleagues,
The department plans to host two upcoming meetings to provide information and updates for international graduate students.
The first meeting will be on Friday, April 18 (i.e., tomorrow) at 10 AM in Jenkins. This meeting will be led by DEI Chair Kim Yi Dionne. Kim will make a presentation that will include tips for international students to maintain their status in light of recent events. This part of the town hall will be recorded. Once her presentation ends, the video recording will end but Kevin or Marissa will take detailed notes of the question and answer period that follows. The video and notes will be shared with anyone who cannot attend the town hall. To be clear, the Q&A notes will not include identifying information of students present or asking questions. We are mindful that many students are out of town this Friday at WPSA and so cannot make it to the meeting. This is why we are making the recording and notes available afterwards.
The second meeting is still in the works and we have not set a date yet. For the second meeting, the department has asked the VPIA office to send a representative to meet with us. They have not yet agreed to do this but we have made the request. If for some reason the VPIA office is unable to participate, the department will find a time in early May to host a second, department-led meeting. As soon as we have more information about the second meeting we will send updates then. I thought it was worth mentioning now that this second meeting is in the works.
Thanks and hope to see many of you at the upcoming meetings.
Best,
Kevin
