Dear Professor Brookes,

We write to you in your capacity as Director of Graduate Studies to request
that you disseminate to students in your doctoral program, and more
generally through your networks, a call for proposals for the *2025
Emerging Methodologists Workshop (EMW)*.

The EMW aims to foster *a new generation of methodologists in the
qualitative and multi-method research community*. *Advanced graduate
students*, post-docs, and junior faculty based at US institutions, who are
from under-represented groups, and are developing a paper that focuses on
methods for generating and/or analyzing qualitative data, or for
multi-method research, are encouraged to submit a proposal to present their
work at the EMW. *Empirical papers do not qualify for presentation at the
workshop.*

The EMW occurs annually in June in Syracuse, NY in tandem with the
Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (IQMR). The EMW
occupies one day of a two day “Authors Workshop” associated with the
Institute. This year the EMW will take place on *Sunday, June 22, 2025 at
Syracuse University*. The workshop is supported by generous funding from
the National Science Foundation.

The workshop *covers* *round-trip airfare, two nights hotel stay* (arranged
by the EMW), and *meals* and *refreshments* during the workshop. In
addition, each presenter is *paired with a mentor* who helps them to
develop their methodological scholarship in advance of the workshop* and
continues to work with them *after the workshop to prepare their research
for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.

You can find more information on the EMW’s website:

We plan to hold a *Zoom webinar on Thursday, October 10 at 1pm EDT *for
those interested in learning more about the EMW.

*Proposals* to present at EMW 2025 are *due on October 21, 2024. *

Please find *attached *to this email two documents that we ask that you
distribute broadly:

   - A document with more information about the EMW and instructions for
   submitting a proposal.
   - A flier announcing the webinar.

Broad outreach is a vital part of our efforts to recruit a diverse pool of
presenters. We appreciate your assistance in circulating the call for
proposals and webinar flier to any individuals or groups who might be
interested. Please email emw.qmer at gmail.com with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your support of this initiative.

Best wishes,
Diana Kapiszewski and Hillel David Soifer
