[Poscgrad] UC Strike Update & UAW Monthly Membership Meeting

Hello everyone,

As you are aware, a couple weeks ago, UAW 4811 held a UC-wide strike
authorization vote to allow our union's executive board to call a strike.
This vote passed.

As a union, we are currently carrying out what's known as a "stand up"
strike. This means that rather than all nine campuses immediately going on
strike, we started with one campus (UC Santa Cruz). Then, as time goes on,
additional campuses will go on to join the strike as necessary. Currently,
UCLA and UC Davis have joined UC Santa Cruz to "stand up" and also go on
strike. For more information on why this strike is happening, visit the UAW

Our union is holding a monthly membership meeting this upcoming *Thursday,
May 30, at 4pm in HUB265* to discuss whether or not we want UC Riverside to
join these other schools in going on strike. If you are interested in

I want to strongly encourage everybody to find a way to attend. If you
haven't had a chance to keep up with unfolding events, if you feel like you
