[Poscgrad] Please Encourage POSC student to apply for these Undergraduate Awards (Deadline May 27)

Hello, everyone.

I'm writing from the POSC Undergraduate Committee.  We are encouraging our
students to apply for a number of awards and, because applications are
currently low, we've pushed the deadline for applications back to *May 27
at 5:00 pm*.

If you know of any promising or interested students, please forward this
information to them or encourage them to apply.  Feel free to refer
students to me directly so that I can answer any questions they may have.
Some of these rewards are sizable.  Some awards will look very good on a
resume.

Here is the information:

The *Political Science Outstanding Student Award* will be given to a
student who will be a Senior in academic year 2024-25; who has a strong
scholastic record, including a cumulative UCR GPA of 3.5 or higher; and who
has made outstanding contributions in community service and/or in
department and campus organizations.  A monetary award of $1,000 is given
to the selected student.



*Judge Ernest M. Lopez Memorial Grants* are awarded to students who will be
Seniors in academic year 2024-25; who are disadvantaged by social or
economic hardship; and who will be applying to law school. Monetary grants
of $500 or more are awarded to help cover the costs of preparing for and
applying to law school.



*Pay It Forward First Generation University Student Awards* are awarded based
on merit to students who will be Juniors or Seniors in academic year
2024-2025; who are studying political science; and who are in the first
generation of their family to pursue a university-level education. A
monetary award of $2,000 or more is given to one or more students.
