*Post Summary*

The Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences and
Philosophy is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Political
Science and Qualitative Methods, to commence on 1st September 2024. This is
a tenure-track position.

The School wishes to make the appointment in the area of Political Science
and Qualitative Methods. The area of specialization is open, but the
preferred candidate should be able to teach modules in qualitative research
methods (*including* *case studies*, *process tracing*, *and* *interviews*).
The preferred candidate must also be able to teach courses in substantive
areas of politics (e.g., comparative politics, international relations,
political communication) of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate
students. The ideal candidates will have an approach to research that
complements the Department of Political Science’s existing strengths in
comparative and institutional analysis.

The normal teaching load for an Assistant Professor in the department would
be four semester-length modules per year. A single semester-length module
normally requires 22 hours of FTF teaching. Assistant professors are also
expected to do a certain amount of postgraduate research supervision and to
contribute to the administration of the programme and/or the department
more generally.

Qualifications

   - An excellent academic record and have completed or be close to
   completion of a PhD in political science.
