Hi everyone,

On January 22, Susan Webb Yackee (University of Wisconsin–Madison) will be
visiting UCR and giving a talk as part of our speaker series. Professor Yackee
is an American Politics scholar who is an expert on U.S. public
policymaking process, public management, regulation, administrative law,
and interest group politics. You can access her CV here
<https://uwmadison.box.com/shared/static/qxey200f1ywhdaieax414nxl5bage188.pdf>
.

We strongly encourage everyone to attend the talk in person.

After the talk, the speaker will have lunch with graduate students at the
Stable. This is a fantastic networking opportunity, and we will cover the
expenses for lunch. We are limiting the attendance to four graduate
students to avoid overcrowding the meeting and ensure that those attending
have a chance to interact with the speaker properly. We will give strong
priority to those who have overlapping research interests with the speaker.
All else being equal, we will also prioritize more advanced students
working on their dissertation research and those currently on the job
market. We will also do our best to rotate so that everybody has the
opportunity to attend one of these events during the academic year, but we
encourage you to sign up even if you have attended previous ones.

If you are interested in attending the lunch event, please let us know
by Wednesday
17th at 5 pm by filling out this form <https://forms.gle/oLdxesFnRe7vBinv8>.
In order to maximize your chances of being selected, please explain briefly
(2-3 sentences) in the form why you would benefit from meeting with the
speaker.

Please note that there will also be a happy hour with the speaker open to
all members of the department (faculty and graduate students) at 4 pm. This
is another great opportunity for networking and collegiality, so we also
encourage you to attend this event.

Thanks so much for your help in making these visits a success!

 Best regards,

Diogo Ferrari (on behalf of the Speaker Series Committee)
