Dear political science PhD students,
Please consider applying to participate in this 3-day training in reproducibility for quantitative methods – see below. It's at Berkeley but selected students will have funding for hotel and travel. This is extremely worthwhile if you can do it.
(It's also open to junior faculty if any faculty are interested...)
Best,
Kevin

Subject: Invite your network to attend BITSS's Research Transparency and Reproducibility Training (RT2)!
Dear Kevin ,
I hope this email finds you well!
I'm writing to share the below announcement for the 2024 Research Transparency and Reproducibility Training (RT2)<https://berkeley-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/28nHH_E6IpQfSiVwF1UPCv0Y6vLOqfYgD06LDyOEF5LeVbs6qjgF5BPgj8LGvFmDVNXGPCTgXicPRX_emguh_F4HA2pj3fnbaSEgvwI4TkCYt_KQMG8c-2joj52Mg4ltIaM68Ivw-Opv6_NUHxBzAn3Qlafujc9C9ibtmnzvdlhgmB5dKdw>, hosted by the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS). As a reminder, RT2 is a 3-day in-person training<https://berkeley-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2eNwF9FAQ5P-WjDevZ0ljjo186i2-BIav3HQZ84SRVhWXbs6qjgEQyRuzcPWgZzugK8Dch_mNjPVDtt2zeXSVXPls99l_qDEmHqSWAMuJNh7E-ce-y_InBl0daVvoauExUzWEacwNKYI2E5ZL7ZQ9eJZfNAwco86OzyuWeiD1sXONKnVQ1QKpX7vToArB9RdlOx7u63C4cWn1s-N02sA3zhpx_JSefpnvKCaIVXS_6jIX3VGN> designed for early career researchers, graduate students, and faculty to gain an overview of tools and practices for transparent and reproducible social science research!
The program is developed and delivered by leading researchers from across the social sciences and will provide participants with opportunities for collaborative work and skills-building. Participants are able to exchange feedback on their research and receive support from instructors throughout the training. This year, we are continuing to feature applications to aging and health disparities research, though most of the sessions are still applicable to social science research more broadly and you do not have to be an aging or health disparities researcher to apply.
I'd be grateful if you could forward this Call for Applications<https://berkeley-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2ATBmHHOjOYg6X_1NJGu6ydC5ZMJb0Onn8NHPmH2kW-WZbs6qjgHAjgx8mH3Li023FqbtzPJt0DJbwOoQOJZBoE8UTAyfeSAYwwmOcKPSyH2MKKzzZnS5QwB9LvEtH6n7eY0Rm1JF0VjZGO8RGrP3T8XFYbQpXhaPnHDw6x0SBOiLvmzo7zQcWqhjUzrybKKTk8jVU2ufbWP6JCuFwzX-L1x9sNg7sejhYB3125l9aDpKGLfpDb_CLQanrLEizZIJ0AKubYNo94jLkAQKVg05LXW2tyhOwzIEFGvQ35aulBKhKeJzvPqaDkmZ0NvIQ7A4T8_m> to your UC Riverside network and any students who would be potentially interested in applying! The deadline is Sunday, April 21, 11:59pm PT. I also want to emphasize that BITSS has funding to support travel and accommodations!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Many thanks,
Grace

RT2 2023 (Berkeley) | Credit: BITSS
Are you a social science researcher interested in strengthening your open science skills and practicing them in a supportive learning environment? BITSS's flagship Research Transparency and Reproducibility Training (RT2), held at UC Berkeley over three days, will give participants the confidence to improve specification through study pre-registration and pre-analysis plans, conduct computational reproductions and replications, and use tools like GitHub and dynamic documents while better understanding norms and standards in the rapidly changing open science landscape.
This year's RT2 will also highlight the topic of credibility and reliability of findings in behavioral and social science research related to aging and health disparities, however you do not need to be an aging or health disparities researcher to participate. All social science researchers are eligible and encouraged to apply!
There will be plenty of opportunities for collaborative work and hands-on skill building, as well as time for participants to get feedback and support on their own research questions from instructors and peers. Learn more here<https://berkeley-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2qQSxy5waMLP0lIVvl5hPBTtA1O4Jdez_shHZaxgLcTejbs6qjgEGmv6DP1gQiVtusaVffupb7i0TbfDjGiGf47AaJacsAosG281m3qAKVOlnvSqNFKU-Mu5yR59URPy4Rq11dBwThFkGXY5xkU_FlbxxNM5OTkt9X6A_2rfxWifjvDhlSzZ-U21K6R7jCWrn3qxxyoXRNsJ7KsIvUFvkB8pWpYPEDS90WkwB9yuT8MvtGorqt5xC1LITqnb1qgd4kYnO58vXSppVu5MdBab6uhFB>.
BITSS has limited funding to offset travel and accommodation costs for the training. Please use the form to let us know how much funding you need in order to attend.
The application deadline is April 21, 11:59 pm PT!
