Dear Professor Merolla,
I hope that this email finds you well. The Hamilton College Government
Department is currently hiring for three tenure-track positions, described
below. If you have any graduate students who might be qualified, please
encourage them to apply for these positions. We are particularly
interested in candidates who can help us broaden an increasingly diverse
department.
The new hires will collectively cover courses in public policy, American
politics, and research methods, allocated based on individual expertise.
We seek candidates with academic backgrounds in American Politics, Public
Policy, or Public Administration. We're especially looking for candidates
whose work investigates the politics and policy of equality and inequality
along one or more of the following axes: race and ethnicity; gender; class;
sexuality; ability; religion; and migrant, refugee, or citizenship status.
We are open to candidates trained in either quantitative or qualitative
methods or both. The teaching load for these positions is four courses
during the first year and five courses thereafter. These positions also
involve institutional service, including academic advising of
undergraduates after the first year of teaching.
Hamilton is a top liberal arts college located in Central New York. Our
department is responsible for the study of politics and public affairs at
Hamilton. The department, one of Hamilton’s largest, currently includes 17
faculty members, 12 of whom are tenured or pre-tenure. Department faculty
include specialists in American politics, comparative politics,
international relations, political theory, and public policy, and we teach
a wide variety of courses across all these subfields.
For the job ad and application, potential candidates should go to
https://apply.interfolio.com/129439. Questions regarding the search may be
directed to Peter F. Cannavò, Search Committee Chair, at
pcannavo at hamilton.edu.
We're planning to start reviewing applications shortly after October 1.
However, applications received after that date could still be considered,
especially for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Either Peter or I would be happy to answer any questions about these
positions or Hamilton College.
Thank you so much for your assistance.
Sincerely,
--
