Subject: CALL FOR INTEREST: HEALTH HUMANITIES & DISABILITY JUSTICE
Dear Members of the UCR Community,
We write to let you know about a multi-year research initiative at UCR, entitled “Health Humanities and Disability Justice” (HHDJ), part of a multi-UC-campus grant, “Abolition Medicine and Disability Justice” with collaborators at UCI, UCLA, UCSF, and UCSC.
We’d like to gauge your interest in learning about events and/or becoming involved. Perhaps you might like to to present work in progress, join a reading group, host or come to a workshop, test or learn about new pedagogical methods, partner with us to build bridges across campus initiatives and communities, or simply talk with us (or one of us) about how your own research, teaching or program building may intersect with the health humanities and/or disability studies and activism. Joining an email list only is an option.
We're hoping that you’d be willing to participate or direct us to potential partners in this work. In addition to departmental and larger institutional partners, we’re looking for early-career graduate students whose research interests align with the scope of this project.
If you are interested at all, please click here for project goals<https://docs.google.com/document/d/177OwB0dj9xiv6pO6dwzaOUm2LI-oEVer/edit> and/or here to signal your degree of interest<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdCJx7fxg2XK9f_bvzUaiT4oEghdmJqJIs2XQFGj1-XLpelfQ/viewform> (joining email list only is fine!).
The first annual conference, “Oral Histories of Environmental Illness,” <https://csw.ucla.edu/event/oral-histories-of-environmental-illness-ohei-symposium/> will be hosted at UCLA on November 17th & 18th, 2023.
Yours Sincerely,

Carla Mazzio<https://profiles.ucr.edu/app/home/profile/carlam>, Co-Director, Medical & Health Humanities Minor
