Graduate Student Researcher

(GSR) Position

for Summer 2023 (20 or 40 hours/week)

Dr. Ellen Reese is currently seeking a part-time or full-time *Graduate Student
Research (GSR)* to assist with qualitative research during Summer 2023
about the current state and future of the regional economy in the Inland
Empire, especially how these impact workers and their communities. Position
is open until filled.



*Responsibilities*:  Duties include the following:

*1)    *Attendance at regular project meetings with the PI by zoom (meeting
day & times are negotiable);

*2)    *Help to recruit interview participants and conduct, transcribe,
summarize & analyze semi-structured interviews as needed.

*3)    *Help to identify, review, and summarize relevant research and
information from newspapers, reports, and other relevant information
sources (including scholarly, public, governmental, and other sources) as
needed.

*4)    *Provide other miscellaneous research, copy-editing, & writing
assistance as needed.


*Compensation:*   Your wage level will be commensurate with experience and
equivalent to your current GSR Step level.


*Hours & dates of employment:* Approximately 20 or 40 hours per week during
Summer 2023. Ideally, the position would begin as soon as possible in
mid-July 2023 and end in late September, but your exact start and end dates
are somewhat negotiable as are your hours of employment each month if your
work availability varies during July, August, and/or September. In other
words, if you are only available to work during one or more summer months
and/or available to work more hours during part of the summer, you are
eligible to apply for this position, and should specify your employment
availability in your application letter.



*Requirements & Preferred Characteristics for the Position:*

1. must be a CHASS or Public Policy graduate student who is currently
enrolled at UCR;

2. must show attention to detail, maintain confidential records when
needed, and have a strong work ethic;

3. this is a hybrid position (some tasks can be carried out remotely, but
you must be able to carry out some tasks in-person in the local community
or at the UCR campus as needed);

4. previous training and experience with qualitative research is required.

5. previous experience with the labor movement and/or community
organizations is strongly preferred but not required.

6. Spanish-language fluency is preferred but not required.

(3) an electronic copy of your UCR course transcript that includes your
current overall cumulative GPA and your grades in graduate-level classes.
