The Election, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior (EPOVB) Section of the
American Political Science Association (APSA) invites research proposals
for the EPOVB Early-Career Fellowship program. The program is open to
graduate students and junior scholars from historically underrepresented
racial and ethnic backgrounds. Fellowships will be awarded to up to five
scholars. Each fellow will receive $500. In addition, in consultation with
the EPOVB committee member, a suitable mentor will be assigned to each
fellow.

*Requirements*

Successful applicants will be invited to make a presentation in either a
stand-alone online seminar or a half-day online conference, which the EPOVB
section will organize during Summer 2024.<s></s>

Successful applicants will be also required to submit a very short report
summarizing how the fellowship advanced their research.

*Qualifications*

Current or future members of the EPOVB section, who are members of
traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, are eligible to
apply.

*Application procedure*

Applications should be submitted in English and must include:

● a short proposal (e.g., 1 page) that includes

a. the objective of the proposed research,

b. how the fellowship will contribute to that, and

c. its research design/methodology.

● a curriculum vitae.

Successful applicants can use the fellowship in any way they wish,
including (but not limited to) gaining access to data archives, survey
costs, travel costs, books, translation, membership fees, childcare costs,
acquisition of relevant materials, etc. But they need to articulate how
this fellowship will help them make progress on their research.

For our consideration of diversity and inclusion, applicants are
encouraged, but not required, to share their identities and/or be part of
under-represented groups. The information included in the applications will
be treated as strictly confidential. See below for details.

Applications for the fellowship program should be sent to the EPOVB section
chair, Jamie Druckman at druckman at northwestern.edu by July 15, 2023.
Decisions will be made by a committee composed of section officers.

*Timeline*

● Application deadline: July 15, 2023

● The announcement of awardees: by the end of July 2023

● Preparation (i.e., searching for a mentor): August 2023

● Fellowship period begins: APSA 2023

● Fellowship period ends: APSA 2024

*About the EPOVB Section*

The American Political Science Association’s organized section on
Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior (EPOVB) promotes scholarly
dialogue related to teaching and research on elections, electoral behavior,
public opinion, voting turnout, and political participation, both within
the United States and throughout the world. EPOVB is one of the largest and
most active sections in the APSA. The section (APSA Section 32) is the
union of two divisions: Elections and Voting Behavior (Division 36) and
Public Opinion (Division 37). In addition to organizing dozens of panels
and presentations at the annual APSA meetings, we recognize superior
research in our field by advanced, emerging, and graduate student scholars.
Our official journal, *Political Behavior*, publishes original research in
political behavior, public opinion, institutions, processes, and policies.
