Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) Position for Spring Quarter 2023
(49% time or 19 hours/week)
*Application deadline (for full consideration): 11:59pm on Monday, 2/27*
Dr. Ellen Reese is currently seeking a part-time *Graduate Student Research
(GSR)* to assist with coordinating and mentoring UCR student interns who
will be working with labor and community organizations through *UCR’s Labor
Studies internship program and a new UC/UCR Labor Summer program.* You will
also be required to help with scheduling meetings, organizing events, and
other miscellaneous administrative and record-keeping tasks related to
helping to build a new UCR Inland Empire Labor & Community Center
(UCR-IELCC).
*Responsibilities*: Duties include the following:
*1) *Attendance at regular project meetings with the PI by zoom (meeting
day & times are negotiable);
*2) *Help to coordinate UCR students for internships (with students,
community partners, and faculty);
*3) *Help to collect, update & distribute information related to student
internship opportunities, the UCR Labor Studies program, the UC/UCR Labor
Summer program, and the IELCC initiative;
*4) *Help to coordinate &/or publicize meetings or events as needed;
*5) *Provide other miscellaneous record-keeping and administrative
assistance as needed.
*Compensation:* Your wage level will be commensurate with experience and
equivalent to your current GSR Step level (according to the new wage rates that
will go into effect in Spring 2023). Your tuition and fees will also be
covered through this position.
*Hours & dates of employment:* Approximately 19 hours/week for 10 weeks,
during Spring Quarter 2023. If interested, you may apply for a related
summer position that begins in late-June and lasts until the end of August
2023.
*Requirements & Preferred Characteristics for the Position:*
1. must be a graduate student who is currently enrolled at UCR;
2. must show attention to detail, maintain confidential records when
needed, and have a strong work ethic;
3. some tasks can be carried out remotely, but you must be able to carry
out some tasks in-person on the UCR campus and/or in the local community;
4. previous experience with the labor movement, community organizations,
student organizations, student internships, and/or mentoring students is
strongly preferred but not required.
5. previous experience with, and skills in, making visually appealing
flyers, handouts, or invitations is strongly preferred but not required.

current overall cumulative GPA and your grades in graduate-level classes.
