Dear Colleagues,
The New Perspectives in Studies of American Governance program, which is a
collaboration between AU’s Center for Congressional and Presidential
Studies, AU’s *Washington College of Law*, and Purdue University’s *Center
for Research on Diversity and Inclusion*, is proud to announce a new
opportunity for scholars asking new research questions from
underrepresented points of view.
Following the success of our first grant program
<https://www.american.edu/spa/ccps/new-perspectives-in-studies-of-american-governance.cfm>,
which is currently culminating, this new round will award 5-7 grants (*up
to $15,000 each, inclusive of up to 10% in indirect costs)* to projects
aimed at transforming our collective understanding of the US Congress, the
Presidency, and/or the federal bureaucracy.
We welcome proposals from inter-disciplinary research collaborations, and
from “emerging” scholars (including PhD candidates and those without formal
academic appointments)—either individually or as part of inter-generational
scholarly teams.
We strongly encourage proposals from scholars whose backgrounds and/or
viewpoints have been historically underrepresented in political science and
the academy more generally. This includes, but is not limited to,
underrepresented perspectives as they pertain to race, ethnicity, gender,
sexuality, and social class. We appreciate variety methodological
approaches (observational-statistical, experimental, qualitative, mixed
methods).
The deadline to submit proposals is *March 1, 2024*.
Please see the attached document for more detailed information (application
process and materials, etcetera), and please direct any questions to David
Barker (dbarker at american.edu).
We look forward to your submissions.
Best Regards,
David (Barker), Valeria (Sinclair-Chapman), and Bettina (Poirier)
