Dear Political Science Graduate Students,
I have met a few of you, but for those of you who I have not, my name is
Nico Napolio and I just joined the faculty in American politics. I'm
looking forward to getting to know and work with you!
UCR will be hosting a conference on political institutions and political
economy on October 27. This conference has been rotating around Southern
California universities for the past few years and I'm really excited to
bring it to UCR. I benefited a lot from it in graduate school by getting
feedback on my work, seeing models for how to give good presentations, and
generally networking with other political scientists working in
Southern California.
You are all welcome to attend the conference, and if you have any papers
(or a dissertation prospectus) that is in shape to present, I encourage you
to submit it. If you do have a paper you would like to present and it is
selected for the conference, you would present for about 12 minutes on a
panel with two to three other graduate students and you would be assigned a
faculty discussant who will read the paper in advance and give comments in
the spirit of improving the project. I hope many of you will submit - it
would be great to have some UCR representation on the grad student panels!
If you are interested in attending or presenting please *click here and
fill out this form* <https://forms.gle/BFLfoMPMRgDLw9zt6>. *If you are
interested in presenting, please fill out the form by September 15, 2023.*
