Good afternoon,

We hope you are looking forward to our upcoming colloquium on *October 8th*,
which will open our fall quarter series. Our first speaker of the quarter
is *Dr. *S*hawn Westerdale*, Assistant Professor of Physics at the
University of California, Riverside.

Professor Westerdale is an experimental particle physicist whose research
focuses on dark matter, neutrinos, and advanced detector development. He
earned his S.B. in Physics from MIT and his Ph.D. from Princeton
University, followed by research appointments at Carleton University, INFN
in Italy, and Princeton before joining the UCR faculty.

We invite you to join us for an opportunity to hear from a distinguished
researcher working at the intersection of experimental particle physics,
detector technology, and some of the most compelling questions in
fundamental physics.
