Dear all,

You’re invited to join us for our upcoming Physics & Astronomy Colloquium
on Thursday, May 29, featuring Dr. Christian Binek, Professor from the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

🗓 Thursday, May 29, 2025
🕓 Colloquium at 3:40 PM
📍 Winston Chung Hall, Room 138
☕ Coffee at 3:00 PM – Barkas Lounge (3049 Physics)
🎓 Grad Student Meet & Greet at 2:30 PM – Barkas Lounge

*Talk Title:*
*Voltage Controlled Néel Vector Rotation in Zero Magnetic Field: The Holy
Grail of Spintronics?*

*About the Talk:*
Dr. Binek will present his work on voltage-controlled rotation of the Néel
vector in antiferromagnetic insulating materials. His research highlights a
path toward ultra-fast, low-power spintronic devices that function in zero
magnetic field and are compatible with CMOS technologies.

*Speaker Bio:*
Dr. Christian Binek is the Charles Bessey Professor at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln. His research spans magnetic interface effects,
spintronics, and thermal physics. He serves as Director of the Nebraska
Center for Materials and Nanoscience and the NSF-funded Nebraska Nanoscale
Facility. Among many honors, he has received the NSF CAREER Award and the
Sigma Xi Outstanding Young Scientist Award. Dr. Binek has authored over 130
peer-reviewed publications and testified before Congress on innovation in
nanotechnology.

We hope to see you there!
