We will have our next PASS on *Monday, October 24* with an interesting

*What the CMB and Lyman-Alpha forest can teach us about reionization and 
early galaxies *

A key result from JWST’s first two cycles is that galaxy formation was 
well underway by z=10. The implications of these early galaxies for 
reionization are less clear, however, owing to the difficulty of 
inferring their ionizing outputs from their non-ionizing spectral 
characteristics. CMB measurements are still our best way to constrain 
the ionization state of the IGM during reionization’s first half, 
providing an important window into the sources of ionizing photons at 
those times. In this talk, I will introduce the reionization-CMB 
connection and use radiative transfer simulations to discuss how 
measurements of the patchy kinetic Sunyaev Zel’dovich (pkSZ) effect can 
be used to constrain the early stages of reionization, especially when 
combined with Lyman-alpha forest constraints on reionization's end. I 
will also highlight how pkSZ measurements can complement JWST's direct 
observations of the galaxy population and improve our understanding of 
the ionizing sources during cosmic dawn.
