I just want to spread awareness of resources to international students not
a part of the union.

Best,

Dear Garett,

Over the past week the Trump Administration has turned Los Angeles into a
test case for dramatically ramping up its attacks on immigrants
<https://communications.uaw4811.org/lt.php?x=3DZy~GDFIaGf7pB6__M9U.Vt13FWkQHzvM40ZHHHJXWb75.uy0y.zul01o2mitA~j-dAY5LMIU>.
On Friday, ICE began conducting immigration raids across Los Angeles, which
have been met by community protests. The Trump Administration is now using
those protests as a pretext to bring in the military in order to intimidate
workers and community members.

*If you are experiencing an unexpected change in immigration status or any
other immigration-related emergency, please call 888-416-2110.*

Because of our collective power, academic workers have strong contractual
rights that protect academic workers from the administration’s actions. *UC
is required to notify our union if immigration authorities are
investigating an academic worker. UC is also required to take measures to
prevent immigration agents from entering campus property without a judicial
warrant.* You can find further resources and more information about your
rights as an international scholar on this webpage

I encourage you to print out a copy of this Know Your Rights card

and keep it in your wallet for easy reference.

UAW 4811 members have written an open letter demanding that the UC
administration implement five basic international scholar protections.
Because of pressure from union members, the administration has already
moved on some of these demands, including the establishment of a legal
defense fund. *Take a moment now to join thousands of your coworkers
demanding that UC take action to protect international scholars by adding
your name to the open letter.* This will also reaffirm your status as a
dues-paying member of UAW 4811.
