Hi all,

We will have our next PASS talk *today*. Please join us at *noon* (from
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm) in the *Nebula Room* (PHYS 3027).

*Aliakbar Kavei, PhD student*

Monday, 12:00 pm, Nebula Room (PHYS 3027)
*Census of the UV Sky and Extragalactic Background Light Analysis*

This project uses the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to study faint
ultraviolet (UV) light from galaxies. This light is part of the
Extragalactic Background Light (EBL), which helps us understand how
galaxies and stars formed over time. We worked on improving image alignment
and removing unwanted signals to measure this faint UV light more
accurately. By studying this data, we are trying to solve gaps in current
models and learn more about how galaxies evolve. I will share how we
tackled the challenges in this project, our first results, and the next
steps to better measure the EBL and study escaping light from galaxies.
This work will help us better understand the universe’s past.

If you’re interested in sharing your work as a speaker, please feel free to
add your name to this spreadsheet [Google Sheet
