<p class="MsoNormal">I’m writing about a significant priority area for UE: data informed goal setting, assessment, and impact. In the context of the UE’s five strategic goals—boosting graduation rates, reducing equity gaps, raising student involvement in high
impact practices, strengthening student belonging and servingness, and improving student satisfaction—I am counting on all of you, as UE leaders, staff, and champions for student success, to take UE to that next level by identifying, producing, collecting,
discussing, and transforming student outcomes for UCR students. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In my time as VPDUE, we began this work as a unit at our retreat in September. We learned about the widening gaps in persistence, retention, and graduation rate trends particularly in a post-COVID context, and you started a conversation
at the sub-unit level by beginning to identify goals, timelines, and metrics, all in the spirit of meeting your subunit goals and our unit’s strategic goals.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">After the retreat, I reflected on next steps and found it prudent to capitalize on the skills of our own campus experts. I had a strategy session with Omar Safie who works out of the Provost’s Office and leads campus accreditation and
assessment efforts. Omar has agreed to deliver three, customized workshops for all of UE staff around data informed goal setting, assessment, and impact.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Because this work needs to begin now, we have identified three dates for the three
<b><u>distinct</u></b> workshops. <i>I invite every single person in UE to attend these in-person workshops, especially if you are responsible for student success, which is all of us in UE.</i> The three workshops will be in person. I ask that if you have
a previous engagement that conflicts with these three workshops, and that doesn’t involve travel, I strongly encourage you to make the necessary adjustments to attend the workshops.
