[Orgvpdue] PPAC Pre-Law Advisor, Lawrance 'LA' Edwards will depart position in August

Dear Colleagues,

I write that our inaugural Pre-Law Advisor, Lawrance 'LA' Edwards
<https://profiles.ucr.edu/app/home/profile/lawrance>, has shared that he'll
be leaving his role and the university effective Friday, August 14th.

LA arrived to the Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC) in May 2025 and
quickly worked to learn all things UCR, the newly rebranded HPAC to PPAC,
meeting with CHASS faculty and advisors, academic advisors across campus,
campus constituents, student clubs/orgs and community members - all to help
connect and grow a pre-law advising program and ecosystem at UCR. During
LA's tenure, he created a Pre-Law Cohort - with over 230 undergraduate
advisees.

Over the past 14 months, LA has been the lead for pre-law advising at the
PPAC, around campus, and in the community. Additionally, LA has been a
significant presence of the Pacific Coast Association of Pre-Law Advisors
and recently presented at the regional conference at the University of
Washington.

We will certainly miss LA's fun personality, cuisine, and significant
professional legal career experience and wisdom.

Please save the date for *Thursday, August 13th* from *2-3:30pm* as we'll
celebrate LA at the Pre-Professional Advising Center (Rivera B03) for his
accomplishments to UCR and the pre-law community.

A search committee is currently being assembled and the search for our next
pre-law advisor will kick off later this summer.
