Dear DUE Colleagues,

It is a busy time of the quarter (when is it not?). I am cancelling our
org meeting next Wednesday, March 4. In lieu of our org meeting next
Wednesday, I'm writing with a couple of org updates.

1. We spent a good part of the last few months preparing for the DUE budget
presentation to the Chancellor, Provost, VC PB&A, VRED, and Senate
representatives, which was last week. Special thanks to the ASSET team
colleagues for their support. Overall, the presentation went well and we
had some positive feedback. In fact, shortly after our meeting, we received
a message from the Chancellor stating that VCRED would contribute $180,000 to
the Chancellor's Research Fellows program in CUREL to support more students
over the next three years!

What are the next steps? Essentially, campus leaders will hear more budget
presentations from other UCR orgs over the next month or so and then we
will know more about our budget from campus leadership in April/May. We
are of course hoping for investment!

2. The budget process gleaned some exciting advances across the DUE. I am
proud of us as a collective. We are scaling many programs (last year’s DUE
retreat theme) and all of this is possible through your dedication and
collaboration with our DUE and campuswide partners. Let’s keep the good
work going!

3. DUE Fall Retreat date: We are moving forward with Tuesday, September 15,
2026. Please mark your calendars and more information to follow.

4. Strategic Goal update process: Each spring all UCR Divisions are
expected to provide an update to the Provost’s Office about our strategic
goal progress. We already compiled lots of good information for our budget
presentation and we will likely be reaching out to the DUE staff for more
information, as needed.

5. Finally, we successfully launched the Retention Action Committees (RACs)
in December. Bob and I are serving as the RAC conveners and we had our
second RAC meeting yesterday It is exciting to hear about all the work in
the Schools/Colleges to help promote student retention and help the campus
meet its 80%, 6-year graduation rate by 2030. Thanks to all of you who
have joined one of the RACs.

Best,

Louie
