Dear DUE Colleagues,

I’m proud to announce that the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE)
has been approved to move forward with its first round of courses. In fact,
our first set of courses were officially approved by the Committee on
Courses last Friday and include the following: a course on academic
advancement and career preparedness, foundations for effective oral
communication, exploring pathways to graduate and professional school,
advanced communication skills for academic and professional success, a
group internship course (UGRD 198G), HESA 001 online, and a topics in
information and society course in collaboration with the library. Most of
these courses are two units and will begin to be offered as early as this
summer and definitely by Fall 2025.

I want to publicly thank the Course Experience Committee led by Gladis
Herrera-Berkowitz and Ray Papica. This group worked consistently for
nearly a year in helping conceptualize this inaugural group of courses
based on student interest, campus needs, and helping the DUE move toward
its strategic goals. The Committee includes:

*Course Experience Committee *

Gladis Herrera-Berkowitz, DUE, Co-Chair

Ray Papica, DUE, Co-Chair

Victor Moreira, DUE

Elizabeth Montgomery, Career Center

Arlene Cano-Matute, Chicano Student Programs

Maura Tomaszewski, CHASS

Mai Temraz, BCOE

Nelly Cruz, DUE

Deborah Nelson, DUE

Samantha Jobelius, SOE

In addition, and this is very important, we have developed a formal process
for members of the DUE to propose courses in alignment with our strategic
goals. More information can be found here:
https://ue.ucr.edu/due-course-proposal-process

Please note this is a new and ongoing process as we begin the course
creation process. I ask that you please be patient and let me know if you
have any feedback or concerns.

This opportunity will support our continued efforts to elevate engaged
learning and propel DUE as a champion of student success while moving us
close to our unit and campus strategic goals.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Best Regards,

Louie
