Colleagues,

I am very happy to announce that Ebony Miles, an Academic Planning Coordinator in the Cal Poly Pomona Office of Student Success, will join Undergraduate Education as our inaugural Kessler Scholars Program Coordinator.

Ebony earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at University of La Verne. She has several years' experience working in community outreach and youth development programs throughout the Inland Empire. Ebony served for four years as Youth Program Coordinator for Reach Out-Upland, developing and implementing college and career readiness curriculum for high school students. In 2017, she joined the Dean of Students office at Cal Poly Pomona to bolster student education through the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity. In 2019 she joined the Cal Poly Advising Center as an Academic Advisor serving freshmen undeclared students before moving to the Office of Student Success. As our Kessler Coordinator, Ebony will be responsible for enhancing educational opportunities and academic progress to degree completion for participants (Scholars) who tend to be first generation, Pell-eligible, and students of color.

Ebony will be a wonderful addition to our UE team. We are very excited about her appointment to advance success for students who historically have not been well served in higher education. Please join me in welcoming Ebony to her new role.

Sincerely,

Bob
