Graduate & Professional School Series

The Graduate School Seminar Series is designed to help transfer students break down the graduate/professional school process. During this 2-part seminar series, students will gain confidence in researching programs for graduate studies and become knowledgeable of the application process (including letters of recommendation, the personal statement, and graduate school exams).

Transfer Success Program is Now Hiring!
Transfer Peer Mentors in the Academic Resource Center will play an active role in supporting transfer students in their transition and overall success at UCR. They will play a pivotal role in enhancing the transfer student experience by cultivating a sense of belonging, promoting UCR resources, and supporting transfer students in navigating the university system.
Key Responsibilities include the Following:
* Attend, and assist in the facilitation of the Transfer Success Program quarterly events and workshops as they are assigned.
* Hold weekly office hours
* Conduct individual and group peer advising sessions. Conduct peer mentoring on personal growth issues (i.e. transitioning to the university, providing success tips, cultivating belong on campus, etc.) and complete two-year education plan with mentees.
* Acquaint students with resources available on campus.
* Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly Transfer Workgroup meetings
Transfer Peer Mentor Qualifications:
* Transfer Peer Mentors must have transferred to UCR from a community college or other institution.
* Transfer Peer Mentors must have junior or senior standing as full-time UCR students; at least one quarter of attendance at UCR is required, three quarters of prior attendance at UCR is preferred.
* Transfer Peer Mentors must always maintain an overall UCR GPA of 3.0 or above; higher GPAs are preferred.
* Transfer Peer Mentors must have good interpersonal and communication skills, a strong knowledge of support resources at UCR, and must display a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.
