[Mus-undergrad-info] Free open rehearsal at the LA Opera

Hello, all!

UCR students have the opportunity to attend a free orchestra tech rehearsal
of *Highway 1, USA* and *The Dwarf*

by William Grant Still and Alexander Zemlinsky, respectively--on *Tuesday,
February 20 at the *LA Opera <https://www.laopera.org/>. We will meet at
the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
<https://www.musiccenter.org/visit-explore/visit-explore/campus/dorothy-chandler-pavilion/>
at
6:00 p.m. that evening, and while you are strongly encouraged to stay for
the duration of the event, you would be welcome to leave anytime after
9:00. You would be responsible for transportation to and from the event,
but I imagine we would work out a carpooling arrangement.

An orchestra tech rehearsal is the last stage of creating an opera
production--music, lights, costumes, props, and set all come together for
the first time. Attending this rehearsal is a great opportunity if you’re
interested in any aspect of collaborative processes in the arts, theater,
arts administration, and the inner workings of one of LA’s largest arts
organizations--even if you don't particularly like opera (and it's more
than okay if you don't)! For those who were able to join for the rehearsal
of *El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego *in November, know that this should be
a similarly exciting experience.
