Dear Faculty:
Intense work continues to ensure we regain balance and a manageable
workload within BMPN. Nematology transition is moving forward and
gaining momentum. In addition, we have identified an analyst resource
from the Dean's Office to assist with reports and analytics, as this
is the key to a more expeditious clean-up and closure of historical
records.
As part of the effort to rebalance workload between CNAS
administrative units and ensure BMPN will be as efficient as possible
with the scope of work managed within the unit, we are reassigning the
responsibility for administrative support for the Center of
Conservation Biology (CCB) to the Botany & Plant Sciences
Administrative Team. This move allows the current CCB director to
garner all support, both as a PI and Director, from a single
administrative unit. This transition will begin shortly and be
finalized before the end of the calendar year.
The BMPN team is working tirelessly to support these transitions and
make the most of the additional capacity & the new staff proposed for
the unit. I am pleased that an offer is in the works for an UC
experienced Research Analyst III & recruitment for the new Research
Analyst II will commence shortly. Still, there is more to do.
Additional structural changes are being evaluated and we will continue
to support the BMPN team with resources from the Dean's Office until
clean-up, ongoing workload and processes are stabilized. We
appreciate the work of the BMPN Team and the grace and patience of
faculty as we work through this process.
