*On Behalf of Dean Atkinson*
Dear BMP faculty,
I am providing an update on our ongoing plans to assist the BMP
Administration Unit in meeting its operational goals.
Additional work to right-size the workload within the BMP admin team
continues as we evaluate migrating the MCBL graduate program
administrative tasks to the CNAS Student Academic Affairs and
Interdepartmental Programs (SAAIP) team in the CNAS DO. Other
interdepartmental graduate programs in CNAS are supported by SAAIP, and the
admin team there, led by Frank Figueroa, has the capacity to add MCBL to
their portfolio. Finally, we are evaluating options for dedicated CCPP
admin support and the best approach to assisting the program in
jump-starting this hire, with initial financial resources provided by the
Dean’s Office.
Our office is working on an administrative transition plan that will
provide a new perspective on ongoing issues facing the BMP unit.
Specifically, within this plan, FAO Christine Morgando and FOM Sarah Vanta
will be redeployed to other areas of the college where their considerable
skills and experience will be both welcomed and utilized. In order to keep
the BMP Administration Unit moving forward, experienced Interim FAO and FOM
candidates are being considered. We will be moving as quickly as possible
but it will take several weeks for these details to be worked through.
FAO Morgando and FOM Vanta have graciously agreed to serve the unit until
the start date of the new leadership team. Both have also agreed to remain
available for questions and consultation to ensure a smooth transition.
Efforts are underway to assure the BMP Administration Unit staff that,
while roles may be adjusted and processes may change, their contribution to
the success of BMP and CNAS remains as vital and important as ever.
Details about this personnel transition will be communicated as they become
available. As you know, HR procedures are highly prescribed and working
within these guidelines takes time.
I appreciate your flexibility as we continue to navigate through this
planning process.
Sincerely,
Peter
