Seeking Community Research Assistants
for a
Community Research Project on Riverside Health

What: In collaboration with the UCR Undergraduate Research in the Community Program,
participate in a community research project to gain social research experience and marketable
research skills and assist the City of Riverside with its health planning and policy development.

Research questions: What are the health needs and assets in the City of Riverside? What are the healthcare needs and assets in the City of Riverside? Issues will include morbidity and mortality, healthy lifestyle patterns, access to health care (insurance, services, and quality), providers and
facilities, skilled workforce and professional development programs, and health-related industry.

Methods: a review of existing research literature and administrative reports, statistical analysis of data (e.g., healthycity.org), interviews with key stakeholders (city officials, community members, healthcare providers, and health industry representatives), and reporting of findings and
recommendations for city officials.

Timeline: The project runs from January-June 2012. Weekly time commitment: about 4 hours.
