<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#212121">On April 11, the U.S. Department of Energy announced it will cap facilities and administrative, or F&A, costs related to its university research grants at 15%, effectively cutting
its F&A funding in half. This is a similar measure to the proposed cap to NIH F&A funds, a move a federal judge has ruled against. A federal judge has subsequently issued a temporary restraining order against the Department of Energy. The ruling was in response
to a suit filed by multiple plaintiffs, including advocacy organizations of which the University of California is a member. </span><u></u><u></u></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#212121">The National Science Foundation, or NSF, on April 18 made an announcement impacting new and active research grants. UCR has started to receive cancellation notices
