[LOGOS] Logo fo Logos

I really like it--especially the speech balloon--but have 3 suggestions
related to function/aim (channeling my retired marketing manager Dad and
noting my near-sightedness and squinting I do at conferences reading
slides/posters):

1. A devil's advocate position about including "UCR" somewhere: it is
valuable from a branding perspective to explicitly associate the initiative
with our campus. Imagine presentation slides and posters of our work at
conferences or other events. Audience members would automatically know it
is an initiative to improve online discourse based out of our campus.
Without that, the logo is more akin to some initiative run outside of a
campus or that spans a number of institutions (e.g., a
cross-campus/cross-sector research network). It might even be misread for
an organization or association. Where to put it? Maybe a) the upper left
corner or b) even adding "@UCR" on the bottom left. Personally speaking, I
am part of a network based at UCSD with various UCSD affiliates/logos added
to the network's website. It makes it clear there is stuff going on at that
campus. Personally, I find UCR is rather weak on this front in terms of
outward identity of initiatives/centers. This helps towards that end by
explicitly saying, "IT'S HERE!"

2. Thinking about this logo and where it will appear (websites, slides,
posters), cursive writing can sometimes be hard to read (especially if it
is a part of a logo for slides or posters where such logos usually occupy a
small part of the canvas. Maybe a different font?

3. Regardless of #2, "Enhancing online discourse" should be bigger/bolder
and (ideally, to my eye) a different font from "Logos." I'm reading it now
on a big screen and still it doesn't jump out. I can imagine reading that
part from a distance.
