[Lilab] Fwd: [Bioinfo-club] Journal Club 2024: Meeting Details & Season's Greetings

Hi everyone,

Wishing you all a healthy and prosperous New Year!

As students in our group complete most of your courses, I'd like to make
attendance at the Bioinfo Club a requirement. This joint journal club
between multiple Statistics and Computer Science groups provides an
excellent opportunity to observe presentations, practice your own skills,
and stay updated on cutting-edge computation techniques.

The Bioinfo Club sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays in the 2024 Winter
quarter, and I'm requiring that everyone *attends at least 5 meetings this
quarter*. Please reply to this email and let me know whether you are
currently subscribed to the [Bioinfo-club] listserv. If not, I will add
your email to the list. Once I receive more details from the student
organizers, I will forward them to the group.

As for the presentation schedule, it is expected by the organizers that *each
student in the journal club presents twice every year*. In our group, Kiano
and Yudi have presented in the past.

Kiano, as you've advanced to candidacy, please sign up for a presentation
this quarter. You need more presentation practice to better prepare for
your defense.
Shiwei and Brian, who haven't attended the journal club before, please
attend often in the first few weeks and be prepared to present at least
once in Winter or Spring.
Yudi, you are already very familiar with this club, so please decide your
schedule at your convenience.
I will forward the signup sheet once it becomes available.
