Hi All,

In an earlier email, I announced that there would be expectations on
reading papers starting from this quarter and we would use the group's
email list as a venue to share references.

After talking to some of you and thinking about it, I decided to use a
shared google sheet instead of the email list so it's easier to organize
and keep track of the references. I've created a template and filled in
some examples. You should have received the invitations, but let me know if
you don't get it.

Please keep the following in mind when adding new references to the shared
document:

   - Order the references by publication year within each topic.
   - I created two tabs for single-cell genomics and general statistics. If
you would like to add any reference falling into another field, feel free
   to create more tabs.
   - Instead of adding every single paper you come across, please only add
those that are good reviews, milestone papers, or the ones that you think
   present useful methods/stories/writing styles.
   - Reading papers is an essential way to keep up with the field and
strengthen critical thinking skills. I don't want to specify a number of
papers and let you treat this as an assignment, but to give you a momentum
in the beginning, let's expect at least 3 recommendations from each student
   by the end of June.

Hopefully, this shared doc will become a good resource for people in the
group to access additional references, even those that may not be directly
relevant to your current work. It can provide you with a broader
understanding of the field and help you identify potential areas of
interest beyond your current projects, thereby facilitating your research
and academic growth.

Best,
Vivian
