*Abstract:*


The Chaturvedi Lab employs systems, synthetic, and quantitative virology to
address critical challenges in infectious disease research, focusing on
Cytomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex Virus-1, Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1,
and respiratory viruses. By elucidating the fundamental design principles
governing viral fate decisions, the lab advances mechanistic understanding
of disease pathogenesis and develops therapeutics with robust genetic
barriers to resistance, targeting key processes such as latency,
oncogenesis, and viral transmission.



In addition to virology, the lab investigates the interplay between
infectious diseases and reproductive health, with a particular emphasis on
the impact of viral pathogenesis on organogenesis and the unique
virological and immunological dynamics in ART-suppressed HIV populations.
This integrative research framework bridges fundamental virology with
translational innovation, driving the development of next-generation
medical interventions and refining our understanding of viral evolution and
its clinical implications.
